C++ Software Engineer – Electronic Trading Systems

Position Overview
Global Liquidity Partners is seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join our Electronic Trading Technology team. GLP develops and supports the core technology powering three affiliated U.S. broker-dealers, delivering mission-critical trading infrastructure, smart order routing, risk management, connectivity, and proprietary execution solutions.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building high-performance, low-latency distributed systems in a demanding production environment. You will play a key role in enhancing our core trading platform, implementing new functionality, improving performance, and bringing innovative ideas from our business, operations, and product teams to market.
In addition to new development, you’ll collaborate closely with our existing engineering team to maintain and continuously improve the stability, scalability, and reliability of our electronic trading ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Core Platform Development
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++ applications supporting electronic equities trading.
- Enhance core trading infrastructure, including order management, smart order routing, risk controls, and exchange connectivity.
- Build new trading features and functionality driven by business, product, operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize system performance, latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested production code.
Trading Systems & Connectivity
- Develop and support FIX protocol connectivity with broker-dealers, exchanges, ATSs, market centers, and vendors.
- Integrate new venues, liquidity providers, and market data feeds.
- Maintain APIs and internal messaging frameworks supporting the firm’s trading ecosystem.
- Assist in designing scalable architectures for future products and services.
Production Support & Collaboration
- Partner with existing engineering teams to troubleshoot production issues and improve platform stability.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
- Support software deployments and release management.
- Assist with root cause analysis and resolution of production incidents.
- Work closely with Operations, Compliance, Product, and Client Services to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in modern C++.
- Strong experience developing distributed, multi-threaded, low-latency systems.
- Experience working in financial technology, electronic trading, brokerage, exchanges, or capital markets.
- Strong understanding of the FIX Protocol.
- Experience with Java.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with Linux development environments.
- Experience using Git or similar version control systems.
- Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
